It's roasting! Yet, UEIS arrived at Wushi Harbor-Yilan's stunning coastline. This day then became the stage for our most unforgettable adventure of the holiday, as of now.
The moment we set foot on the beach, the kids' excitement was impossible to hide. We rushed eagerly into the surf shop, where our coach greeted us with a blend of humor and professionalism. After applying sunscreen and changing into cool rash guards, we were ready to catch some waves!
Guided by our coach, the kids started with basic surfing drills on the sand—mounting the board, paddling, and popping up. Each move testing everyone's agility and sense of balance. The coach repeatedly reminded us how to spot rip currents, ensuring every child could enjoy the ocean.
After land training, the kids shouldered their heavy surfboards, marched step by step toward the deep blue sea. Teachers and classmates encouraging each other shouting “Go! Go!”, pumping up the energy.
The moment their feet touched the ocean, all tiredness melted away. The weather was unbelievably perfect, and the gentle yet exciting waves made it an ideal day for beginners.
Each group of three students was paired with a dedicated coach, who expertly guided them as they attempt. There were tumbles and falls, but laughter and shouts of surprise filled the air as everyone embraced the ocean's energy.
As the activity drew to a close, we tossed our boards aside and dashed into the sea, playing tag along the shoreline, soaking up the refreshing water, and letting our laughter and energy run wild.
Surfing is truly an art and a conversation with the sea. We're grateful for our coach's expert guidance and careful watch, which allowed us to gain courage and joy on this summer afternoon.
