UEIS Handmade Omamori

Under the guidance of their craft club teacher, students engaged in a collaborative omamori making activity, adding to the festive atmosphere of the upcoming holiday. On a Wednesday afternoon, the school cafeteria was filled with laughter and lively chatter as students gathered for the event. The activity commenced with an instructional video on the omamori making process, followed by the teacher’s patient, step-by-step guidance. The art of sewing was a novel experience for many of the students. During this activity, the usually energetic boys showed surprising focus and diligence as they carefully sewed their omamori, looking particularly dashing in their concentration. Conversely, some of the academically gifted students displayed an endearing sense of helplessness when faced with this unfamiliar craft. Yet, regardless of their skill level, the students immersed themselves in the activity, assisting one another and enjoying a session filled with creativity and collaboration.  They poured their hearts into making the omamori, filled with anticipation, hoping to imbue them with endless blessings for their families. This event also gave them the chance to experience the joy of cooperation and innovation.  As the activity drew to a close, the students, still brimming with enthusiasm, began to decorate their omamori. The craft teacher thoughtfully provided a tutorial video, allowing the students to continue working on or refining their creations even after the event, thus ensuring that the blessings and hopes they held were truly incorporated into their pieces. Each omamori embodies the children's beautiful expectations and aspirations for the New Year. This event not only provided the students with enjoyable moments but also taught them that the act of creating a small item or conveying a sentiment is imbued with precious emotions and hopes. As the Lunar New Year approaches, these carefully crafted omamori will become tokens of the students’ heartfelt blessings for their families and themselves, creating a particularly warm and meaningful memory for the New Year.

 UEIS Students' Hot Spring Trip

The students from UEIS embarked on a relaxing hot spring journey to Jiaoxi's Four Seasons Hot Spring. This trip provided warmth during the cold winter and offered a break from their intense studies. Upon arriving, everyone eagerly changed into their swimwear and stepped into the steaming hot spring pools. The water's temperature was just right, and the rising steam made them feel their fatigue melt away instantly. As they soaked, they chatted and laughed, creating a joyful atmosphere. The mineral-rich water is known for its skin benefits, and they also shared their knowledge about hot springs, making the trip both fun and educational. This natural hot spring water is excellent for stress relief and blood circulation, benefiting the students’ learning and health. This hot spring journey was well worth it, allowing the children to understand the importance of slowing down and enjoying the moment. They not only relaxed but also strengthened their friendships and created happy memories, appreciating every moment outside of their studies.

Bringing Warmth in Winter

On a damp and chilly winter morning on Friday, students gathered at school, ready to participate in the "Warm Winter Donation" charity event organized by the Fuqi Family. Despite the cold weather, the students' enthusiasm remained undiminished as they set off towards Luna Plaza, eager to bring warmth to the community. As the event commenced, a lively atmosphere filled the venue. The Fuqi Family invited several performance groups, showcasing spectacular acts including traditional Peking opera face-changing and energetic dance performances. The magical artistry of face-changing left the audience in awe, while the dance performances sparked excitement and energy, seemingly warming the cold air around them. Additionally, there was a fraud prevention awareness segment that utilized a quiz format to educate attendees about scam prevention, allowing everyone to enjoy the entertainment while learning practical safety tips. Following the performances, the event transitioned into another phase where students transformed into volunteer angels by donning volunteer vests, becoming integral parts of this charitable initiative. Each member of the Fuqi Family partnered with students to begin their volunteer service. Together, they entered a nearby Carrefour store to assist community members in need. Inside the store, students helped Fuqi Family members with calculations, retrieved items, and carefully assisted elderly shoppers with their carts. Although temperatures were low and the air was damp, every student wore bright smiles on their faces. They utilized their strength to help others and learned how to express love and care through their actions. This activity not only allowed students to grasp the importance of social responsibility but also deepened their understanding of the true meaning of charitable actions. Despite the frigid winter outside, the students' passion and contributions filled the event with warmth. Their efforts provided tangible support to those in need while allowing them to gain a sense of accomplishment and joy. The "Warm Winter Donation" initiative perfectly combined social care with student growth. Through their actions, students not only brought warmth to others but also gathered love and inspiration in this cold season.

Sharing Wonderful Times at the Zoo with Classmates

This sunny morning, we set off for the Taipei City Zoo! It was a perfect day for an outing. Although the zoo holds many childhood memories for us, visiting with classmates today added a unique flavor to the experience. Upon arriving at the Taipei City Zoo, the children eagerly began sharing their memories of previous outdoor educational trips and discussing today's schedule. They planned to see specific animals first and talked about which souvenirs they wanted to buy. As each group split off to explore, the first group arrived at the panda exhibit, where they were thrilled to see Yuan Bao energetically climbing a tree. The kids excitedly took photos and videos, exclaiming, "So cute!" They then moved on to the tropical rainforest area to observe the elegant walking of the blue Great Argus and the Cottontop Tamarin resting on trees and pathways, all while soaking in the beauty of nature. Their adventure continued as they hopped on the park train to visit the penguin exhibit. After lunch, the children embarked on their first experience riding the Maokong Gondola. As the gondola ascended slowly, breathtaking views of Greater Taipei unfolded before them, lifting their spirits even higher. Upon reaching Maokong, they eagerly indulged in a must-try local delicacy—Tieguanyin tea ice cream—made even more delightful by the refreshing breeze, creating unforgettable memories for their day.

UEIS Teacher's Day and Talent Show

Teacher’s Day is a day for students to express their gratitude for their teachers’ tireless dedication and guidance. Teachers play an important role in students’ lives, acting as both mentors and friends, accompanying children as they grow. The school also arranged a small surprise on this day. When teachers received tokens of appreciation and small gifts from students, it instantly warmed their hearts. Talent Show: A Stage for Students to Shine! After rigorous practice, the performers’ charm and teamwork were put to the test. The first act was a performance by the school band. As students played their favorite instruments and sang beautifully, the audience was mesmerized and moved to the rhythm. The second and third acts featured jazz drum performances by Sam from G10 and Monica from G7, accompanied by popular music, prompting cheers from the audience. Next was a piano solo by Cooper from G8, whose solid piano skills exuded a sense of grandeur. After the musical performances, Daniel and Lucas from G9 showcased a cup stacking act. Despite a little mistake, they completed their performance under pressure, earning applause from the audience. The final two acts were dance routines by a group of enthusiastic girls, whose energetic performances got everyone on their feet. The last act was a play adapted by G11 students, which became the highlight of the show. With creative costumes, self-made props, and an amusing script, the result was nonstop laughter from the audience. After voting by all teachers and students, the top two acts were: the dance routine, which won first place and the Best Costume Award, and Cooper from G8, who took second place. Those who didn’t win should not be discouraged, as there will be more opportunities to showcase their talents in the future. Let’s look forward to the next performance!

2024 UEIS New Student Welcome Party

Last Wednesday afternoon, we kicked off our exciting annual welcoming event. This year, students prepared an exciting lineup of activities, including a treasure hunt, water balloon fights, a BBQ, guessing games, and a karaoke session, allowing every student to fully immerse themselves in the party. The event started with a treasure hunt. Following the host’s clues, the students zigzag throughout the campus. They searched high and low for the paper cups marked with numbers left behind by the game master. Throughout the search, everyone’s teamwork and intelligence were put to the test, as no one knew which cups held prizes or led to mini-games. In the end, students who found cups numbered 1 to 6 were rewarded with scratch-off tickets, while those with numbers 7 to 20 received different prizes or participated in special games. The treasure hunt proved to be a fantastic way for the children to experience the joy of exploration. Next, everyone jumped right into the water balloon fight. Laughter filled the air as water balloons flew and splashed, creating a lively and energetic scene. Whether they were preparing to throw or getting hit by a balloon, the children thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing fun, and this playful water battle became the perfect opening to ignite everyone’s enthusiasm. The kids showed boundless energy and excitement, making this one of the highlights of the event. As evening approached, we gathered for the BBQ. The students lined up at the food stalls, grilling their delicious skewers and enjoying lively conversations with each other. The sizzling sound of barbecued meat filled the air, bringing everyone together for a heart warming feast. This meal not only satisfied their hunger but also deepened their friendships. During the BBQ, the hosts kept things lively with a guessing game. In this cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, students guessed whose childhood photos were on display. Every time someone correctly guessed the identity, the room burst into applause and cheers, spreading joy all around. Finally, the event concluded with a karaoke session. The students took turns showing off their singing skills, performing everything from passionate rock anthems to heartfelt ballads. The atmosphere reached its peak as the children confidently displayed their talents, with loud cheers and applause from the crowd boosting their confidence. Huge thanks to the seniors for their hard work in organizing this memorable experience. We eagerly look forward to next year's event, where we will create even more unforgettable memories together!

UEIS Students' Unforgettable Day at Yilan's Festival

With the summer fading away, UEIS seized the opportunity to partake in 2024 Yilan International Children's Folklore & Folkgames Festival, a famous annual event in Taiwan. As the students entered the festival, they eagerly exchanged ideas about their plans for the day: whether to zoom down the exhilarating water slides, wonder at the Star Tower, or enjoy the variety of delicious foods available. Watching the children put on their swimwear and dash into the water, splashing each other playfully, the teachers couldn’t resist joining in the fun; laughter and joy filled the air. The thrill-seekers among us challenged themselves on the high-speed crystal slide and the expansive 7-meter-wide rainbow water slide, relishing the exhilarating rush of speed and the refreshing coolness of the water. These activities were a perfect blend of excitement and relief from the heat, offering a memorable experience for everyone involved. The Star Tower captivated the attention of the children, who eagerly lined up to experience the zip wire. This high-altitude swing, reaching a height of 12 meters, offered a breathtaking 360-degree view as it gently swayed in the sky. Though the ride was brief, each child had the chance to appreciate the stunning landscapes of the Dongshan River from above. As the day unfolded, the children returned to school, their hearts full of joy and their minds filled with unforgettable memories. The festival had not only provided them with a day of fun and adventure but also a memory that will last a lifetime.

Let's go surfing

On a scorching summer day, the beach is the ideal retreat. Yilan's Wushi Harbor is a surfer's paradise, and with such a perfect spot nearby, how could we resist? Under the blazing sun, fueled by the children's excitement, the entire coastline became our playground, ready to ride the waves with joy. The moment we arrived at the surf shop, the children's excitement was obvious. They couldn't wait to hear the coach's fun and engaging explanations. After applying sunscreen and changing into rash guards, they eagerly headed to the beach. The coach started the kids' training on the sand. Each move—getting on the board, paddling, standing up—tested their agility and balance. The coach constantly emphasized how to read the currents to ensure the kids' safety in the water. After the training session, the kids carried their heavy surfboards under the hot sun, driven by determination, toward the blue sea. "Come on! You can do it!" Encouraging shouts filled the air. The teachers kept cheering, urging the kids not to give up, reminding them that hard work leads to sweet rewards. As they plunged into the water, the kids felt a wave of relief and satisfaction, their faces lighting up with joy. The weather today was perfect, with waves just right for beginners to challenge themselves! Each group of three students had a coach guiding them expertly, helping them catch the waves. Isaac was the first to succeed, riding the waves with style. On the other side, Isabella and Wendy, not to be outdone, showed their girl power by bravely standing up and riding the wild waves with determination. Senior Kevin was not about to lose. With the coach's help, he tackled wave after wave, enjoying the thrill of surfing. Even the usually gentle and quiet Lillian showed hidden talent. She followed the coach's instructions carefully and finally stood up, enjoying the thrill of being a surfer. Those who hadn't yet stood on their boards enjoyed lying on them, feeling the waves gently splash against their bodies—a delight in its own way. As the activity wound down, it was free time. They set aside their surfboards and ran into the sea, playing tag along the shore, enjoying the cool water, and celebrating their youth. Surfing is a profound skill, as deep and mysterious as the ocean. Under the coach's expert guidance, the children had a fulfilling afternoon, creating a special memory of this splendid summer for their holiday journal!

Turtle Island Tour

When it comes to Yilan, most people think of Jiaoxi Hot Springs, Luodong Night Market, and of course, the stunning Turtle Island. This time, students filled with both nervousness and excitement, step onto the mystery Turtle Island. Along the way, the tour guide explained how the island's unique geology has created many beautiful landscapes, such as the Turtle Sunrise, the island’s volcanic sulfur smoke, steep cliffs, and the underwater hot springs. The children listened intently, discussing the history of Turtle Island and admiring the fascinating Milky Lake formed by the underwater hot springs. They also saw seabirds diving to catch fish in the water. Upon landing, the first stop was Puotoyan Temple. There, the guide shared the temple's history and invited students to rub small stones, which surprisingly released a sulfuric smell. Students fill with curiosity, eagerly wanted to try it themselves. As they followed the lakeside trail, they were accompanied by the melodic songs of the birds. The route took them past landmarks like the Guanyin Statue, military tunnels, and Turtle Island Elementary School. Naturally, the students also took a photo with the island's famous landmark, “Island Alone, Yet People Are Not Lonely.” Through this journey, the children uncovered the mysterious legends of Turtle Island and happily returned home.

Bouncing into Summer

On an intense summer day, UEIS kiddos with big smiles and high hopes made their way to the Jumps Airland. As they arrived, their expression clearly showed their happiness. With the speed of wind, they captured a group selfie, and dived into the playground. The playground was full of excitement. Students got to release their curiosity. A daring tug of war (Two players stand on a platform, each gripping a rope, and pull the other off the platform to win.), mechanical wave board, Zorb Ball (One person enters a ball pit and others push the ball-wrapped student around.), the spooky slide (Player slides down from the side of the slide with a ring.), and the boxing room (See who can land the most punches in a giving time frame.) Among all the activities at the bounce factory, kids had a great time! But wait! That’s only half of it, after finishing the first floor, they headed up to the second floor’s self-service bar to restore their energy and strength. The second half starts with paintball war (Where kids use toy guns to shoot each other in a thrilling and entertaining showdown.), table tennis, bumper cars, and ends with an air soccer match. Their laughter is a proof of a successful outing, looking forward to the next adventure.

UEIS Final Show

The annual major event of UEIS—the Final Show The Final Show is a UEIS tradition. It involves students from all grades, with everyone, from staff to performers, playing their own roles. The children’s warm attitudes, the heartfelt atmosphere, and the wonderful performances impressed first-time attendees, who found the event refreshing. Parents also saw the enthusiasm and talents of our students and staff. Each child's growth is something to be cherished. Through such events, we help children develop and reflect on their journey. A simple thank you or a hug is the most direct feedback and encouragement for the parents and teachers who have worked hard over the years. We appreciate the presence of all the parents and guests. This opportunity allows students, teachers, parents, relatives, and esteemed guests to come together, creating shared memories and fostering more love and warmth.

2024 UEIS The Little Prince Winter Camp

As the winter draws to a close, the blossoming of a hundred flowers announces the ending of the Little Prince Winter Camp at the United Education International School (UEIS). In the enchanting land of the Little Prince, where all adults were once children, the camp has seamlessly blended indoor guided readings and artistic experiences with outdoor explorations and interactive games. Each participant, guided by the imaginative projections of the Little Prince, has had the opportunity to satisfy their inner desires. With the camp's emphasis on using the heart to truly see and the acknowledgment that essential things are invisible to the eye, the Little Prince Winter Camp has been a transformative journey. It has encouraged participants to see with their hearts and discover the importance of open-mindedness. As we put a farewell to this chapter filled with shared dreams and joyous laughter, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of a new chapter. In the summer of 2023, UEIS embarked on an unforgettable journey to the United Kingdom!

From the ancient city of Oxford to the elegant town of Cambridge, from the historic capital Edinburgh to the vibrant city of London, UEIS visited a total of 12 universities, experiencing the diverse landscapes of the UK! Not only did they conquer the classical universities and red-brick institutions, but they also successfully navigated the contemporary glass-panel universities. Throughout this journey, they explored cultural heritage cities, industrial towns, and even ventured into emerging commercial centers. The profound cultural heritage of the UK deeply captivated them, driving them to walk thousands of steps, traversing every corner of the cities. They didn't just enjoy sightseeing, but also embraced the tranquility of rural towns! Of course, there's a need to boast about the charm of the UK's public transportation as well. The iconic British trains, the underground metro, the double-decker buses, and taxis all had their allure. While some local cuisine might not have suited the students' taste buds, they still managed to sample the distinctive flavors of the region. Furthermore, they experienced a full week of the Royal Holloway language and culture program, allowing the students to get a glimpse of university life's allure in advance. They had the privilege of interacting and exchanging ideas with high school students from around the world, engaging in free-flowing conversations! Gatherings with students from Israel, Italy, Peru, Japan, Eastern Europe, and more showcased the charm of diversity with their varied backgrounds. The most important aspect of this journey was the personal growth of each individual. Rutax unexpectedly turned into a foreign cuisine expert, treating everyone to a culinary feast; the once-shy Elaine evolved into an international communication virtuoso, earning newfound respect. As for David, Max, and Jasmine, they gained clearer directions for their futures. Through this journey, they seemed to have found their purpose and courage. Let's together reminisce about this remarkable journey!

2023 Spring Farewell Party

On April 20-21, the Student Council threw the Farewell Party, a huge traditional event of UEIS. It was a great chance for all of us to chill and hang out before saying our goodbyes. The two-day schedule was totally packed, and we had a blast! We thought the kids would never wake up at 4am but, boy, were we wrong! They were so hyped for the day's events that they woke up automatically (maybe they were too excited to sleep at all). At 5am, they packed their bags and met in the meeting room to take attendance. This kind of spirit would be amazing in... well, anything, as long as it's impromptu. After a three-hour journey, we got to the Ruisui Rafting Center and were given safety instructions. We geared up and headed to the riverbed to prepare for the boat. We were all so stoked, and the excitement was beyond words. During the three-hour rafting journey, we adjusted the paddle frequency spontaneously, one, two, one, two, and laughed and cheered all the way down. The beautiful scenery and terrain on both sides, the self-sufficient cattle, the fresh air, and the cool weather were all rare moments of breathing for city kids who are usually buried in books and electronics. We couldn't miss out on a good water fight, of course! Everyone went nuts, pouring water on each other and getting soaked to the bone. At this point, the teachers had to try to keep some order, but it was useless. They got soaked themselves but laughed along with us. After that, we headed to Hunter School to experience the culture of the aborigines, cook delicious bamboo tube rice, and make traps. We were all so into it that we wished we could stay longer. Two back-to-back fun activities made us all ravenous, but nothing comes for free in this world. If you want to eat, you gotta grill it yourself. Everyone got into their positions automatically. Some grilled the food, some transported ingredients, some cleaned up, and, of course, some just ate (very important job). It was hard to imagine this scene after waking up early and having a busy day all day. After the barbecue, it was time for the highlight of the night - the graduation party, and the graduates were the stars of the show. Stay tuned for our next article: Graduation Night.

UEIS Volunteer Marathon

At half past five in the morning, the children got up one after another with eager anticipation, replenished their energy with a delicious breakfast, and set off in full gear to welcome the exciting annual super marathon event. This semester, we added a jogging club and trained the children with a plan in order to prepare them for this moment. As soon as we arrived at the venue, the children could not conceal their excitement. The members of the jogging club had already practiced sufficiently, and they led other participating students to warm up, stretch, and feel the tension of the children. The student volunteers who served also performed their duties. They had actively divided into groups during the volunteer training the day before and were ready to become the most adequate support for each participant on that day. When the starting command sounded, the children joyfully ran forward. Seeing a rainbow appearing on the horizon seemed like it was cheering for our players. As the weather became clearer, the children's mood also accelerated with the fast-paced steps of the galloping horses. Passing by the relay stations and the cheers of their classmates, the power of accelerating forward, like an adrenaline injection, overflowed. With full force, they headed towards the finish line. The marathon race, like life, has both laughter and sweat. Some people are responsible for laughter, and some are responsible for sweat. Although they did not stand on the podium with professional runners in the end, the children's efforts and the spirit of never giving up as athletes were already worthy of praise. Life is like a marathon, not a hundred-meter sprint. The temporary victory or defeat does not represent the eternal victory or defeat. In the marathon of life, it is better to run long than to run fast. Those who win at the starting line do not necessarily win the final victory in life.
