In the summer of 2023, UEIS embarked on an unforgettable journey to the United Kingdom!

From the ancient city of Oxford to the elegant town of Cambridge, from the historic capital Edinburgh to the vibrant city of London, UEIS visited a total of 12 universities, experiencing the diverse landscapes of the UK! Not only did they conquer the classical universities and red-brick institutions, but they also successfully navigated the contemporary glass-panel universities. Throughout this journey, they explored cultural heritage cities, industrial towns, and even ventured into emerging commercial centers. The profound cultural heritage of the UK deeply captivated them, driving them to walk thousands of steps, traversing every corner of the cities. They didn't just enjoy sightseeing, but also embraced the tranquility of rural towns! Of course, there's a need to boast about the charm of the UK's public transportation as well. The iconic British trains, the underground metro, the double-decker buses, and taxis all had their allure. While some local cuisine might not have suited the students' taste buds, they still managed to sample the distinctive flavors of the region. Furthermore, they experienced a full week of the Royal Holloway language and culture program, allowing the students to get a glimpse of university life's allure in advance. They had the privilege of interacting and exchanging ideas with high school students from around the world, engaging in free-flowing conversations! Gatherings with students from Israel, Italy, Peru, Japan, Eastern Europe, and more showcased the charm of diversity with their varied backgrounds. The most important aspect of this journey was the personal growth of each individual. Rutax unexpectedly turned into a foreign cuisine expert, treating everyone to a culinary feast; the once-shy Elaine evolved into an international communication virtuoso, earning newfound respect. As for David, Max, and Jasmine, they gained clearer directions for their futures. Through this journey, they seemed to have found their purpose and courage. Let's together reminisce about this remarkable journey!

Exploring Atayal Tribe: An Unforgettable Adventure!

Today, we ventured into the village of the Atayal tribe, following the guidance of an Atayal tribe coach. We explored the origins of a stream, relishing in conversation and laughter amidst the woods, and skillfully maneuvered through rocky terrain, creating a delightful and thrilling morning. The children eagerly assembled early in the day, brimming with excitement for our journey. As we traveled, the melodic voices of the children filled the air, and one child even serenaded us with a song by the singer Zheng Yi from forty years ago, "The Rain Comes Just in Time." The sunlight cast its glow upon the innocent smiles of the children, and it felt as though we had arrived at the perfect moment. With joyous laughter, we arrived at the Jinyang tribe. Equipped with helmets, life jackets, and water shoes, we ensured our safety before immersing ourselves in the experience. The refreshing stream water elicited surprised exclamations from the children. The coach provided friendly and meticulous instructions, while the surrounding natural beauty of mountains and forests enticed us forward, extending a warm welcome to explore. The children carefully made their way across rocks, or traversed forest paths, utilizing both their hands and feet. They joyfully leaped into the crystal-clear water, repeatedly cheering and diving alongside their companions. They swam in the blue pools akin to water dragons. Some children declared it their first time, a memory they would cherish forever, while others enthusiastically sought the coach's assistance, unafraid and eager to try diving. There were also those who willingly challenged themselves, knowing that the coach's support ensured their safety, enabling them to venture into the water with confidence. Whether they reveled in carefree swimming or mustered the courage to attempt something new, these experiences left an indelible mark on the children's lives. Finally, everyone relished the exhilarating sensation of being washed by the stream beneath the waterfall. As the saying goes, even the toughest challenges can be overcome. Perhaps after being immersed for half a day, any remnants of baby fat on our faces would vanish! Leaving the emerald green stream behind, we proceeded to a restaurant to savor delectable golden roasted chicken, replenishing our bodies with nourishment after a day filled with exertion. Thus, our delightful stream tracing adventure came to a close, and we eagerly anticipate embracing the next thrilling journey that lies ahead.

2023 Spring Farewell Party

On April 20-21, the Student Council threw the Farewell Party, a huge traditional event of UEIS. It was a great chance for all of us to chill and hang out before saying our goodbyes. The two-day schedule was totally packed, and we had a blast! We thought the kids would never wake up at 4am but, boy, were we wrong! They were so hyped for the day's events that they woke up automatically (maybe they were too excited to sleep at all). At 5am, they packed their bags and met in the meeting room to take attendance. This kind of spirit would be amazing in... well, anything, as long as it's impromptu. After a three-hour journey, we got to the Ruisui Rafting Center and were given safety instructions. We geared up and headed to the riverbed to prepare for the boat. We were all so stoked, and the excitement was beyond words. During the three-hour rafting journey, we adjusted the paddle frequency spontaneously, one, two, one, two, and laughed and cheered all the way down. The beautiful scenery and terrain on both sides, the self-sufficient cattle, the fresh air, and the cool weather were all rare moments of breathing for city kids who are usually buried in books and electronics. We couldn't miss out on a good water fight, of course! Everyone went nuts, pouring water on each other and getting soaked to the bone. At this point, the teachers had to try to keep some order, but it was useless. They got soaked themselves but laughed along with us. After that, we headed to Hunter School to experience the culture of the aborigines, cook delicious bamboo tube rice, and make traps. We were all so into it that we wished we could stay longer. Two back-to-back fun activities made us all ravenous, but nothing comes for free in this world. If you want to eat, you gotta grill it yourself. Everyone got into their positions automatically. Some grilled the food, some transported ingredients, some cleaned up, and, of course, some just ate (very important job). It was hard to imagine this scene after waking up early and having a busy day all day. After the barbecue, it was time for the highlight of the night - the graduation party, and the graduates were the stars of the show. Stay tuned for our next article: Graduation Night.

A Day in the Life of UEIS: Iris's Vlog

As a student at UEIS International School, my daily routine involves a variety of activities. In this Vlog, I want to share my experience of the school's Halloween campus party that welcomed students from other schools. As luck would have it, my birthday is on the same day as Halloween, so I was thrilled to have access to professional sound equipment and enjoy exciting performances on my special day. My day usually starts with waking up to the upbeat tunes of English pop songs from the speakers. I then head upstairs to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast prepared by the dedicated kitchen staff. The variety of delicious food options motivates me to study hard throughout the day. Each class takes place in a different classroom, thanks to UEIS's unique course scheduling system. The school boasts a range of classrooms and facilities, including music rooms, gyms, laboratories, and yoga rooms, enabling them to offer a variety of courses to students. After a morning filled with learning, my friends and I enjoy lunch on the third floor. Meanwhile, the student council members and teachers start preparing for the upcoming party. This involves planning the event's flow and assigning tasks to members. Every Tuesday, the student council holds a weekly meeting to reflect on the previous event and plan for the next one. The international school is known for its tight-knit community, where students and teachers treat each other like family. The home room teacher and classmates prepared a surprise birthday celebration for a fellow student, complete with endless surprises, birthday songs, and a delicious cake. However, the celebrant was initially confused when a classmate dragged her away from the classroom, only to bring her back to a completely dark room. It was then that she realized the reason for the unexpected disappearance, and was grateful for the heartfelt birthday surprise. On Halloween, the school community came together for a festive celebration. The students were dressed up in a variety of costumes, including ghosts, Star Wars characters, vampires, eerie doctors, and Harry Potter students, showcasing their creative and carefully crafted outfits. The party kicked off with explosive music, and everyone let go of their academic stress and danced the night away with friends and new acquaintances from other schools. Apart from the dance floor, there were also various Halloween activities, such as "What's the ghost up to," a challenge on a pressure plate, a replica of the gum level in the squid game, scream box, and more. The exciting games filled the first floor and classrooms with screams and laughter, adding to the festive atmosphere. After all the fun and games, it was time for dinner, and the students were treated to an exquisite and delicious meal prepared in the school's kitchen. The aroma filled the campus, and every student couldn't help but drool and rush to get to the table. They enjoyed their dinner with friends in the courtyard and watched horror movies in the space. Despite the fun-filled day, homework awaited at the end of it. The students had to sit in the self-study room provided by the school and struggle with their coursework. The day ended with the hope of a brand new beginning the next day. Credit by: Iris Chiu

UEIS Volunteer Marathon

At half past five in the morning, the children got up one after another with eager anticipation, replenished their energy with a delicious breakfast, and set off in full gear to welcome the exciting annual super marathon event. This semester, we added a jogging club and trained the children with a plan in order to prepare them for this moment. As soon as we arrived at the venue, the children could not conceal their excitement. The members of the jogging club had already practiced sufficiently, and they led other participating students to warm up, stretch, and feel the tension of the children. The student volunteers who served also performed their duties. They had actively divided into groups during the volunteer training the day before and were ready to become the most adequate support for each participant on that day. When the starting command sounded, the children joyfully ran forward. Seeing a rainbow appearing on the horizon seemed like it was cheering for our players. As the weather became clearer, the children's mood also accelerated with the fast-paced steps of the galloping horses. Passing by the relay stations and the cheers of their classmates, the power of accelerating forward, like an adrenaline injection, overflowed. With full force, they headed towards the finish line. The marathon race, like life, has both laughter and sweat. Some people are responsible for laughter, and some are responsible for sweat. Although they did not stand on the podium with professional runners in the end, the children's efforts and the spirit of never giving up as athletes were already worthy of praise. Life is like a marathon, not a hundred-meter sprint. The temporary victory or defeat does not represent the eternal victory or defeat. In the marathon of life, it is better to run long than to run fast. Those who win at the starting line do not necessarily win the final victory in life.

UEIS Graduation Ceremony

The annual UEIS major event, the Final Show film, has been completed. Let us revisit the highlights once again! The Final Show is a school-wide mobilization event and a tradition of UEIS. From staff to performers, all come from students of various grades, each with their own role to play. The children's friendly attitude, warm atmosphere, and splendid performances have earned praise from first-time guests, who hailed the festival as refreshing. It has also allowed parents to discover the enthusiasm and versatility of our school's faculty and students. Every child's growth is worthy of treasuring. Through such events, we train our children to grow forward while allowing them to look back at their footsteps. A simple expression of gratitude or a warm embrace is the most direct feedback and encouragement for the hardworking parents and teachers over the years. We express our gratitude to all the parents and distinguished guests for their attendance. Having such an opportunity enables students, teachers, parents, relatives, and guests to gather together, create shared memories, and consolidate more love and warmth.
