On April 20-21, the Student Council threw the Farewell Party, a huge traditional event of UEIS. It was a great chance for all of us to chill and hang out before saying our goodbyes. The two-day schedule was totally packed, and we had a blast!
We thought the kids would never wake up at 4am but, boy, were we wrong! They were so hyped for the day's events that they woke up automatically (maybe they were too excited to sleep at all). At 5am, they packed their bags and met in the meeting room to take attendance. This kind of spirit would be amazing in... well, anything, as long as it's impromptu.
After a three-hour journey, we got to the Ruisui Rafting Center and were given safety instructions. We geared up and headed to the riverbed to prepare for the boat. We were all so stoked, and the excitement was beyond words. During the three-hour rafting journey, we adjusted the paddle frequency spontaneously, one, two, one, two, and laughed and cheered all the way down. The beautiful scenery and terrain on both sides, the self-sufficient cattle, the fresh air, and the cool weather were all rare moments of breathing for city kids who are usually buried in books and electronics.
We couldn't miss out on a good water fight, of course! Everyone went nuts, pouring water on each other and getting soaked to the bone. At this point, the teachers had to try to keep some order, but it was useless. They got soaked themselves but laughed along with us.
After that, we headed to Hunter School to experience the culture of the aborigines, cook delicious bamboo tube rice, and make traps. We were all so into it that we wished we could stay longer.
Two back-to-back fun activities made us all ravenous, but nothing comes for free in this world. If you want to eat, you gotta grill it yourself. Everyone got into their positions automatically. Some grilled the food, some transported ingredients, some cleaned up, and, of course, some just ate (very important job). It was hard to imagine this scene after waking up early and having a busy day all day.
After the barbecue, it was time for the highlight of the night - the graduation party, and the graduates were the stars of the show. Stay tuned for our next article: Graduation Night.
