The afternoon sun in August sparkled on the Songshumen swimming pool, a prelude to the new school year. On this day, students and teachers from various grades gathered to celebrate the annual welcome event.
"Teacher, can we get in the water now?" The excited shouts of students after a brief assembly were met with a burst of laughter. The pool became a stage for games like "Capture the Flag" and "Frontline Support," filled with the sound of cheers and splashing water. Some paddled with all their might, others tumbled clumsily, and some unexpectedly emerged as "dark horse heroes." Despite the fierce competition, the most memorable moments were the hands reaching out to help and the genuine shouts of "Go for it!" The initial awkwardness quickly faded, replaced by a growing sense of camaraderie.
As evening approached, the sunset painted the sky in a warm shade of orange, and the aroma of barbecue filled the air. Some were busy flipping food, others diligently "guarded the fire," and a few proudly declared themselves "professional eaters." Amidst the jokes and laughter, an occasional charred sausage became the most popular "specialty dish." Later, the sounds of drumming, dancing, and more games extended the lively night under the stars.
With songs filling the air and the firelight flickering, the students' faces glowed brightly. This was more than just an event; it was the start of new relationships. Freshmen found a sense of belonging, while returning students found a new chapter to write.
